Latest News World wide Foundation for Credit Unions Launches Turkish Cooperative Earthquake Relief Fund
World wide Foundation. MADISON, Wis.—The Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, in partnership with the World Council of Credit Unions, launched its Turkish Cooperative Earthquake Relief Fund Thursday to solicit donations in support of Turkey’s cooperative movement, which has suffered a massive devastation by two earthquakes on February 6.
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake early in the morning in Gaziantep was followed by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake hours later in Kahramanmaras. Tarimkredi (Turkish Agricultural Credit Cooperatives) has more than 150 cooperatives with 80,000 members in the 10 earthquake-affected provinces and estimates that at least half of these institutions have suffered some level of destruction.
