Latest News about In apex committee meeting. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need for political stability on Friday during the National Apex Committee meeting held to discuss and formulate a strategy to deal with the current wave of terrorism.
The prime minister had called the meeting, which was attended by civilian and military leaders, a day earlier to review the law and order situation in the country.
The committee, formed in 2015 after the Army Public School attack to oversee the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP), met in Islamabad as Pakistan grapples with a new wave of terrorism.
The meeting came after Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and Intelligence Director General Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum visited Kabul to discuss the rise in militant activities, including attacks by Tehreek-e- Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Such a high-level visit from Islamabad took place after a long hiatus. It is understood that the TTP’s activities using Afghan territory which is causing great harm to peace in Pakistan were the subject of detailed deliberations during the delegation’s stay in Kabul.
